Santa's Disco-Dancing Light Bulb Moment

One year, Santa had an idea….

To get the grotto in Christmas cheer ! Bringing the hard-working gnomes a bit of cheer,

Well, that’s the sort of thing that happens at that time of year ! He fetched the fairy lights from out of the attic,

And switched on the lights to automatic ! PING ! The lights flashed on in a tick…

Then crashed off I a flash, just as quick !

Seems that the bulbs had completely fused,

And all the electricity had been used !

(Mrs Christmas was not amused ….)

“Oh no”, she cried, the electricity’s gone out….

Give the electrician gnome a very loud shout!”

Mrs Christmas was determined the Christmas party would be fun !

And the grotto should sparkle before the guests started to come ….

“What about the Christmas tree sat in the corner ?”, she asked,

Looking evergreen and forlorner, in a shadow it basked.

Christmas was fast approaching…and the weather getting colder,

She urged the gnome to jump onto Santa’s shoulder….

To fetch some bulbs from the town’s market,

They drove Santa’s sleigh and told Rudolph where to park it !

The gnomes fixed the fairy lights one by one,

Screwed in new bulbs, until each one was done.

A bright glow ! a flash ! A spark !.....

Then once more they found they were in the dark !

It was Rudolph who came to save the day….

Who frightened the creepy shadows away ….

With his rosy glow and shiny nose,

He lit up the kitchen …. what a hero, I suppose !

In fluttered the fairies, sparkling as well,

They magicked their wands and rang their fairy light bell !

Their flapping wings made a musical din…

Now the bright Christmas party was about to begin !

Soon, everyone was tripping the light fantastic !

The floorboards bounced (they were only made of plastic !)

They raised the chimney, the roof tiles clattered,

The gnomes danced all night as if nothing else mattered !

As the grotto shook, Santa was covered in soot !

He could hardly see where his boots were put !

But a jolly good time was had by all…

As the Christmas fairy lights fizzled in the hall !
