The Hungry Bookworm Who Ate A Whole Book

Writer: jjacquirjjacquir

Although the hungry bookworm searched very hard, he had real problems finding his library card. No wonder his tummy rumbled so much, he hadn't had a breakfast as such. The hungry bookworm loved reading and in fact ate a whole book. It didn't matter what the title was, he didn't even stop to take a look. He started by nibbling the corner off page one and very soon, a whole chapter had gone. On page eight, there was a picture of a steak, so that is where the bookworm took a break. By page ten, he was hungry again ... so he ate a hole through to page eleven. On page twelve, he put the book back on the bookshelves and picked up a magazine instead, which he read till he went to bed. On page thirteen was the best picture he'd seen ... he carried on eating until he'd finished page fifteen. To make it even better, the hungry bookworm took a side salad of letter. A portion of page twenty with chips tasted best ... then the hungry caterpilllar gobbled up the rest. Of course, a newspaper would have been much greater, but he decided to leave that till later. Whilst, the hungry bookworm covered page sixteen in tomato ketchup, he accidentally spilled some tea from his cup. Despite the stain, soon he was off chomping again. He used page twenty four as a serviette - this was the best read he'd had yet ! Next, the hungry bookworm wriggled upto chapter two ... he was really enjoying this salt and peppery literary stew. The hungry bookworm munched upto page thirty three ... he'd never ever eaten such a tasty library for tea. Then, before the end of the week, he'd polished off all the magazines on Fleet Street. As the hungry bookworm wriggled this way and that, he read about the Man in the Moon, then he read about his cat. As the hungry bookworm ate an advertisement for lunch ... it was then that he heard a horrible "CRUNCH !" as he munched. Eating the cover was quite hard work, so the hungry bookworm went to get a knife and fork. Once the hungry bookworm had eaten another chapter, he took an exam which of course, he easily passed after. The hungry bookworm tucked into an encyclopaedia, he spent his whole career working in the media. Of course, then, as the time flew, the hungry bookworm grew and grew. By the time he was five inches long, the hungry caterpillar got none of his spellings wrong. The hungry bookworm had chomped through the latest edition of the Sunday Crimes, as well as the weekend supplement which included a tasty article on limes. The hungry caterpillar decided to turn over a new leaf ... by becoming the Daily Press's Editor - in - Chief. Of course, then, he was pleased as punch, as the in tray on his desk, became a commentary crunch. Since he was always out for dinner - the hungry bookworm soon became much less thinner. Even when he went on holiday, the hungry bookworm snacked away. By the second day of his foreign trip, he'd eaten a guide book as he took a dip. Then, he ate a map as well, soon he couldn't tell West from East, all because of his bookworm - ish feast.
