Turnip the Turtle wanted to send his friend the tortoise postcard,
But reaching the postbox was turning out to be quite hard....
It took the Turtle a day to write
Three hours to carry it on his back (though it was light !)
Being only three inches tall...
Turnip tried to climb up the promenade wall
You wouldn't believe how much time it took !
Still he didn't have much luck !
On the pier he thought he was near,
But a rain storm washed him away, I hear
He bought a stamp,
Asked a tramp,
Who was sat by the postbox,
Leaning on a lamp ...
The sight of a turtle climbing up the side,
Made everyone laugh so much, they cried !
The postbox stood red and proud,
Very soon, the Turtle had drawn a crowd !
What made Turnip madder,
Was that no - one had a ladder,
Till the Seagull offered to post him, which made him much gladder
A week later, the postcard arrived
The tortoise was so happy, he jumped up and high fived
