Being a turtle is rather nice....
You're never bothered in the kitchen by naughty mice !
Turnip carried his home on his back,
Not a shack or even in a rucksack...
He didn't have to pay the rent,
Nor put up the poles of a tent....
Whenever the weather started to snow and rain,
He'd curl up in his shell in disdain !
The shell was hard and perfectly secure,
Though it had no curtains nor haute courture !
Trouble was, there was not much space....
To put a rug by the fireplace
So Turnip the turtle went out looking...
For a home with a kitchen to do the cooking !
He considered a stately home....
With roses and a deerpark where he could roam !
Even an igloo would possibly do,
Of semi detached, there were quite a few !
A terraced or a first floor flat,
Would be great so he could have a cat....
Eventually, though, Turnip the turtle decided,
A cardboard box would be best to be resided
Without much time to waste,
Turnip bought wallpaper, a bucket and paste !
He set about decorating his box and filled it with straws,
Bought a wardrobe and a chest of drawers
Soon, his box was rather cosy,
He even put a vase and a posy !
How beautifully crafted was his new home,
With even a shed and a garden gnome !
