Turnip the Turtle

Turnip soup was Turnip the turtle's favourite dish....

A bowl a day was his regular wish

He ate turnips for breakfast, dinner and tea,

If he had two, he wanted three....

He was always seen crunching on tasty veg,

He grew lettuce on the window ledge....

A tomato, some cucumber and a celery stick,

Though it was juicy, didn't do the trick !

Only turnips would really do,

So he greedily munched through quite a few !

His home in the ocean was full of fish,

But turnips were really his favourite squish !

He grew a turnip to a considerable size,

Three metres wide was quite a

surprise !

When Turnip dug the turnip up in the garden,

He almost hit a traffic warden !

He parked it by the side of the road,

For a two foot turtle, fifty pounds was a heavy load !

Although he wasn't quite sure where to stick it,

The traffic warden gave him a parking ticket !

Some other turtles asked the reason why,

Turnip didn't prefer steak and kidney pie?

The turtle said he didn't like the crust,

So turnips were really an absolute must!

Turtle soup just didn't seem right,

Turnips were tastier, nutritious and light!
