The Winter Kevin the Kangeroo Got Stuck in the Mud

One Winter, Kevin the kangeroo got stuck in the mud...

His feet didn't lift up as well as they should -

Although he tried as hard as he could

In fact, his jumping was really no good.

He didn't see the watery puddle...

And ended up in a bit of a muddle.

All he wanted was to feed a duck...

When suddenly in the mud he got stuck!

He paddled and swam and splashed about...then Kevin loudly gave a shout -

"Somebody come and get me out !

I haven't got a clue what this quacking is all about !"

Just then, along came Billy the cow...

Asking if Kevin needed a hand...and how?

They decided, despite the weather,

To somehow get out of the mud together....

Bobby the bull got a rope to pull...

Life in Fearnhead was never dull !

Three minutes later...

They dug up a potato !

They'd only hoped to pull Kevin out...but what could be greater ?

They brought a peeler and a frying pan and set it down next to a fisherman...

To make as many chips as fast as they could ... before old Kevin dried in the mud !

As Kevin watched them greedily tuck in,

The rainclouds passed and a storm did begin...

He wondered if he could pinch a chip....

But not one of them offered him a strip....

Meanwhile, Kevin, still stuck quite fast...

Watched the commotion, quite aghast !

The whole of the world, it seemed, walked past...

Only once they'd eaten their chips did they free him, at last !

The gang together, before it was dark,

Headed off towards theswings in the park...

When Kevin looked back...it was easy to see...a trail of muddy footprints beneath the tree !
