The Snowman's Pet Penguin

Out in the garden, in the cold, cold snow....

The snowman was all alone by himself, don't you know...

Every night, beneath the stars,

Santa looked in from the passing cars....

So off Santa set, to buy the snowman a brand new pet....

It was going to be his best, new friend, i bet...yet !

Perhaps a dog, or even a cat,

Would help Santa feel less lonely at that...

The robin flew ahead, puffing out his chest and in the face going red...

A reindeer perhaps, would be a friendly chap...

A ferocious crocodile would protect him while having a nap...

A budgerigar would be better by far,

The Christmas fairy said...

Even a chimpanzee who could come for tea, would be a good pal for the snowman, you see...

A goldfish in a bowl...that would swim around and around...

Even a mole, who would dig a hole, in the snowy, icy ground...

A ladybird, i had heard, would be a good pet or even a tiger that would be well feared...

So off Santa sped, the robin flying overhead...

To the Christmasland pet shop to see what animals they had instead...

There was a lizard in a cage...

A gerbil on a wheel, spinning in an angry rage...

A tiny mouse, a hungry rabbit,

Who eating crunchy lettuce was his hungry habit !

He looked about and guess what he picked that was nice ?

Santa chose a penguin, suited to the snow and ice...

He put the penguin in a cardboard box....and put it on his sleigh with a dozen stocking socks...

From the party inside that night....Mrs Christmas could see,

The snowman and the penguin throwing snowballs merrily...beneath the Christmas tree...
