When Summer is here, hungry houseflies do cheer !
For ravenous insects, it’s the best time of year…
The hungry housefly, flew off to the woods,
Where in the picnic basket, the bears had the goods…
He started off sticking to a sugary bun,
Then moved onto a sandwich…Wow ! this was fun !
He crunched a hole in the picnic table,
And munched every biscuit he was able…
He nibbled on a meat pie a little bit,
On a cheese cracker he did sit !
The hungry housefly took another bite,
Nothing could quell his appetite !
He tried to fly off but wasn’t that light,
He landed on a jelly, then bounced off in full flight !
Soon, he was swimming in strawberries and cream,
The housefly ate a custard cream, then ice – cream…
The housefly slipped into a knife and fork,
Then tripped over a champagne cork…
Next he skidded off into the butter, his wings fluttered,
“Watch out for that yule log !” the dragonfly muttered…
Although flapping his wings, as hard as he could,
He couldn’t launch, it was really no good !
Sat on the tablecloth, in the middle of the wood,
Is every housefly’s dream, stuck in chocolate mud !
