The Hungry Housefly's Best Ever Soccer Match

Oh ! what fun the hungry housefly had,

When he saw a soccer game, he went completely mad !

He loved a game away,

Watched ‘Match of the Day’ every Saturday…

He put on his woolen scarf and his bobble hat with a patch,

Then off to the stadium, he zoomed for the match …

Football was his favorite sport,

He bought a programme weekly as every good supporter ought !

As the grounds man turned on the light switch,

The housefly touched down at the side of the pitch,…

KICKOFF ! was declared…

The housefly roared, the crowds cheered…

He shot the ball, right into the net,

A swift left kick – it was his best one yet !

Soon, the scoreboard lit up 6-7,

Not a bad day for player number eleven…

When the half-time whistle hungrily blew,

Off to the burger van, the housefly hungrily flew…

A quick bite of a meat and potato pie,

Then the housefly headed off back into the sky…

In the second half, he scored ten more,

Skidded in the grass, and landed on the floor !

The referee cried out “FOUL! YELLOW CARD FOR YOU !”,

The players argued and the supporters howled, too…

Before long, the housefly’s belly started to rumble,

As over the sideline, he began to tumble…

He started munching the goal-keeper’s shoe,

Then onto the goal…then the football, too…

He crunched a big hole, in the back of the net,

The size of the ‘O’ in the alphabet !

Every free corner, he sat like Little Jack Horner,

Nibbling a sandwich, dropping crumbs in the corner….

When the game was done and the team had won…

The hungry housefly sang with everyone…

From the cup, he took a champagne sup,

His favorite team were on the up and up !

The hungriest housefly ever was the one from team FC,

Who ate an entire stadium every match for his tea !
