The hungry chimpanzee could never find enough coconuts for his tea. Although he spent all afternoon, swinging around in the trees, the chimpanzee could find no coconuts, he only could find leaves. The hungry chimpanzee longed to be like a honey bee - so he wouldn't have problems finding coconuts for his tea. He set the table with a knife, fork and spoon, hoping that coconuts would appear very soon. But he couldn't find a single one. The hungry chimpanzee would have to settle for a currant bun. The hungry chimpanzee boiled an egg, but when he tried to pick it up, he dropped it and it rolled on the floor instead. Next, he cooked a slice of toast, but the chimpanzee burnt it ... and sent for another in the post. Once the hungry chimpanzee had spent all his cash, he nipped to the supermarket as quick as a flash, thinking he'd be able to buy some sausages and mash. He asked the shelf stackers where he could find coconuts to go on his crackers ... They must have had a rush on coconuts ... because there wern't any, which made the hungry chimpanzee go nuts. Sicne the supermarket had run out of produce, the hungry chimpanzee deduced, he should go and see what else in the supermarket was reduced. The hungry chimpanzee picked up a can of beans ... it was the first thing he could find ... and he preferred beans to greens. The hungry chimpanzee had real problems trying to open the tin, because he'd accidentally munched the tin opener so he had to put the tin in the bin. The steamed rice he boiled was rather nice ... especially with some curry. The hungry chimpanzee was so very hungry, he gobbled it all down in a hurry. The hungry chimpanzee started with fish - he was so hungry that he ate the dish. The hungry chimpanzee then tried his hand at cooking ... he fried an egg and baked a coconut cake - he even won a prize for the best cake that a chimpanzee could make. Once it had cooled down somewhat, the chimpanzee took a bite - "Ouch !" It was hot !" he cried as he munched. The hungry chimpanzee had hardly expected to take a crunch of baking tray for lunch. Before long, not only the toast but the toaster had disappeared ... it was the tastiest roast that the chimpanzee had tasted in years. The hungry chimpanzee switched up the oven and put on some fat ... the next time he looked, he'd cooked the mat. Oh dear, what a mess ... the chimpanzee carpet - less. The hungry chimpanzee was really open - mouthed ... he tried to switch on the fan, but accidentally swallowed the frying pan. All the hungry chimpanzee really wanted to do, was to see if he could cook, the tastiest coconut stew. But when he looked, his cupboards were bare ... there wasn't a single coconut anywhere - Not on the table, nor on the chairs, nor on any of the shelves under the stairs. Even a simple coconut sandwich would have sufficed, so the hungry chimpanzee went to butter a bread slice. By the time he'd finished, he'd munched up quite a few, he ate the plate, as well, as chimpanzees sometimes do. For tea at three, the hungry chimpanzee swallowed a glass of coconut juice, though it wasn't at all fizzy. By the time that dinner was over, the hungry chimpanzee had polished off a cup and saucer, three glasses, a sack of potatoes and a toaster rack. None of them tasted of coconuts, but he couldn't take them back.
