The cuckoo who lived on cloud cuckoo land, had a very magic wand. Whenever he waved it up and down, magic things started happening all over the town. Things started to disappear in a puff of smoke and the animals hibernating in the woods suddenly awoke. When the cuckoo clucked on the chimney pot, the sun started shining rather a lot. You wouldn't believe the amount of feathers that the magic cuckoo had got ! No wonder he flapped his wings rather a lot when he got hot. The cuckoo who lived in cloud cuckoo land, thought his feather were rather ungrand. He didn't really like grey at all and his whistling voice only made a half out of tune call. The cuckoo didn't have his own nest - he preferred to spend his time flying around, which he thought was best. The cuckoo who lived in cloud cuckoo land, accidentally flew into the hatstand. The next time that he looked at himself, he was wearing a hat that had been by the bookshelf. The hat had ribbons and an enormous bow. The cuckoo wore it proudly, whenever he went to a show. The flowers on the top, were red, yellow and blue. With green stripy leaves and a feather stuck on with glue. Although the wind blew hard all night, the flowers and feathers clung on tight (one of them even stuck to the light !). The cuckoo clucked about his new hat - the other cuckoos agreed (and so did the cat). When that midnight, he came to prowl, he frightened the cuckoo, who flew right off the wall (as well as one or two of the mice, who ran away through their mouseholes, once or twice).
