The Christmas That Santa Got Stuck On the Alps

The Christmas when Santa got stuck on the Alps, he had taken a wrong left turn somewhere above France. Whilst he was driving his sleigh, he accidentally drove the wrong way ! "Ooops ! Gadzooks ! I should have gone right" (but there was no hotel on the autobahn, that he could stop for the night !). Before, he knew it, he'd completely blew it ! He'd meant to fly around the world, instead of flew through it ! In the morning, when the day was brighter, Santa saw his sleigh was perched on a mountain top, three presents lighter ! It took Santa a week, to get down off the mountain peak ! A Saint Bernard dog was passing by, when he saw Santa, stuck in the sky. Generously, he brought him some whiskey, (chilled, of course) which he gave to Santa from a barrel around his neck ... and one or two sandwiches. Santa hadn't expected that this year, his Christmas dinner would have been a picnic in the Alps, rather than mince pies by the fireside, in the grotto. When Bernard the Saint Bernard dog leapt upon the sleigh, soon, on the mountain peak, pebbles and boulders started to roll away ! The sleigh, rocked slowly at first, then slid down the mountain side, until it looked like a snowball - with Santa clinging on amidst it all ! Bernard the Saint Bernard followed in cold (not hot !) pursuit - until, that is, the sleigh "CRASHED !" into a Christmas tree root. Off flew one of Santa's boots - just like a footballer taking a shoot. Soon, all the Christmas presents in Santa's sack, fell off the sleigh, into the snow and onto the track ... It took all afternoon, to put them back !
