Up the M6, like a reindeer on hot bricks, Santa flew last year....
It wasn't long before he went wrong,
And got stuck on Helvelyn, I fear !
From high in the clouds,
He could see crowds...
Climbing up the mountainside....
All of the gnomes couldn't now make it home,
Though on the sleigh everyone tried to ride...
It was getting late - the light wasn't that great....
So they hitched up a tent, 'cos they had to wait !
For supper, they ate grilled sausages on a plate !
Santa ate seven, (Rudolph ate eight !)...
They camped on the peak, in the snow so to speak....
Hoping they'd make it home by next week !
They could see the North star...
Shining in from afar...
The Lake District Christmas was the best ever, by far !
In the morning they set off, carrying all their climbing stuff ....
It was very tough, sleeping rough...
Rudoloph started to huff and puff !
Onto Windermere, with Rudolph at the rear...Santa then headed....then to Grasmere I hear....
What they really wanted to do was to see Beatrix Potter, too...
Then hear a poem by William Wordsworth....so they joined the queue...
By eight thirty that night...the gang were off in full flight...
Zooming past the Moon, was quite a remarkable sight !
