The Christmas that Santa got a new pair of knitting needles, all the elves were in stitches ! Outside, in the cold, they played snowball fighting (with balls of wool !), they ended up tying the whole (or should I say, hole !) grotto up in knots. Santa couldn't believe his eyes - when he unwrapped his presents on Christmas morning. Instead of the usual pair of socks - he got a pair of knitting needles, to do the darning ! The ball of wool, he thought was wonderful ... it reached all around the house. In fact, when Santa unravelled it, inside was hidden a secret mouse ! As soon as Christmas dinner was gone, he set about designing a new pair of stockings for everyone. He asked each of this friends in the grotto, in turn, what they would like. The Christmas fairy asked Santa to knit her a new pair of woolly Winter wings (a little bit warmer than the ones she used for Spring) and Gerome the gnome said a bike. The snowman thought Santa's knitting needles were great ... He now had a new pair of gloves and hat to wear ... the robin redbreast used the bits of left over wool to quilt his nest !
