The Christmas Santa Couldn't Find His Glass of Sherry

Usually, in Santa's grotto, there was a party on Christmas Eve, but the Christmas that Santa couldn't find his sherry, was the most sober Christmas that had ever been. Santa had refilled his glass with sherry - but still wasn't feelin' all that merry. Mrs. Christmas when she was dustering, spilled a bit, with all that Christmas flustering ! The snowman hadn't meant to knock over his glass, with his big, size twelves ... and I dare say, when they accidentally slipped, brushing up soot, nor did the elves ! There was no sherry on the supermarket shelves when Santa sent the Christmas fairy to the supermarket. The sleigh was so big, that she couldn't park it. A big "CLOSED" sign was on the door, so Santa would have to wait a little while more. At the wine store on the High Street, the Christmas fairy found a surprise that was rather nice - sherry cost half - price. Once they had arrived back home, it didn't take long to pop the cork and soon, all the gnomes were drunk, too ! (well it can't have been anything else that made them sing so badly !).

Hic ! Hic ! Refill Santa's spilt glass of sherry inside these "m - erry" words with the letters either E - R - R -Y or E - R - Y. Which is the correct one to use ?
