The Bluebottle Who Didn't Like Blue

The blue bluebottle was blue - he had seen insects with hundreds of other colours - but he didn't much like the colour of his hue. He sat in the sun to get a suntan, but he turned crimson - a colour he couldn't stand. It wasn't the cold that made the bluebottle look so blue. He would prefer another colour - but he didn't know what to do. He sat on a leaf, but that was no good, he only slipped off and fell into the mud. The blue bottle was bluer than ever - sat beneath the flowers for hours - catching a cold in the stormy weather. The blue bluebottle flapped his wings, but he didn't fly anywhere and he was scared of losing his colouring. The bluebottle was really quite sad - he thought that perhaps red wouldn't be so bad. Or yellow, perhaps, would be a better colour, so he'd look like a bee. Either way, he was bored of blue and longed to find another colour, too. The blue bottle then ate an orange, he thought he'd try the whole colour range, but he only ended up looking rather strange. The blue bluebottle thought perhaps purple instead - so he looked in the paintshop for suitable colours to match the flowerbed. "I think pink would be better still !", suggested the fish, flapping it's gill. The blue bottle took a look around and saw it was green that covered the snowy ground. But rolling around in grass didn't help either, changing colours was becoming a bit of a mither. He thought that if he covered himself in snow, he wouldn't have far to go - he'd prefer to be a crow. The blue bottle flapped his wings, trying to launch off in the wind. The blue blue bottle vanished into thin air, trying to get another colour of dye for his hair. He still couldn't decide what colour was best to wear. Luckily a painter had come around and was painting the house with a brush ... it wasn't long before a bit fell on the bluebottle's bush. Now the blue bluebottle was happier than ever, he thought a change of his spots like this was rather clever.
