The Bird of Paradise Who Came To Stay In Jack's Beanstalk

One Summer, a bird of paradise came to stay in Jack's beanstalk. He only was flying overhead and decided to stop off, looking for a bed. He really wasn't that well fed. So when he saw the juicy fruit, he landed on the top branch - with a very loud "Hoot - de - hoot !" (none of the other insects understood his foreign tongue, but the coot !). The bird of paradise flapped his wings ... and soon was flying over Saturn's rings. By now, his wing was really going with a swing. None of the squirrels minded his fling ... though some of them thought he'd dropped something ! The bird of paradise sat out in the Sun ... he polished his feathers and soon was rather well done. He had a better suntan than anyone ! As he preened his feathers, he almost lost one or two, a few of them even hit the ground as he flew ! ... Later that Winter, when the blue tit and the wren went out, then had to watch out for a bird of paradise feather clout ! The bits and bobs that they found on the ground, were more colourful than anything else around. The bird of paradise used to be in the leaves of a palm and coconut tree - picking fruits in every colour of the rainbow, naturally ! So the odd acorn and chestnut really didn't do - the bird of paradise did pick one or two, but found that they were difficult to chew ! And he didn't much like the colour of the hue. When you've been flying over the sea, in a golden horizon, glistening free, then mouldly, old, green leaves in Jack's beanstalk tree does kind of pale into insignificance (with only maples and gooseberries for tea).
