The Absurd Ladybird Who Liked Lemon Curd

It may seem crazy, I know, it is true, that a ladybird likes lemon curd, but some ladybirds really do. There was once an absurd ladybird whose favourite food was lemon curd ... in fact, he liked lemon curd so much, he would go to any lengths to find a jar ... he searched in every shop and even wished on every star. The absurd ladybird was completely dotty about lemon curd cakes and ate as many as he could make. Sometimes, his wings got covered in the stuff ... it matted down his wings and covered all his fluff. But the absurd ladybird didn't care much at all, that his wings were covered in lemon curd and he got stuck to the hall. Once, the absurd ladybird even fell right in ... it left his feet all sticky and covered him upto his chin. The absurd ladybird licked his feelers ... Mmmmm ... the lemon curd tasted just right ... he didn;t really care very much, if he got stuck to the potato peelers. Delicious, not too salty nor too sweet ... just the right amount of lemon, though it did cover all of his feet. In the supermarket, the absurd ladybird looked up and down the aisles he walked up and down for miles and miles ... what made him smile were the piles and piles of lemon curd. He was most disconcerted when he only found tins of baked beans and frozen peas ... and the boxes of washing up powder only made him sneeze. He filled up his trolley with jars of lemon curd ... since the supermarket was running a two for the price of one offer he had heard. As ladybirds go, he was completely dotty about lemon curd, though the other insects thought his eating habits really quite absurd. The caterpillar scoffed ... a tasty greenfly is better, he said ... or, added the slug, a nice juicy worm from underneath the cabbage leaves in the flowerbed. The fox prefered pickles, not lemon curd that trickled and the hedgehog said lemon curd only got stuck in his prickles. "Even an apple or a pear in which he could munch and squirm, is tastier than a sticky old jar of lemon curd !", said the worm,. But the absurd ladybird stuck to his mettle as the other insects carried on chomping a nettle. Whilst the ladybird toasted some bread, the bug opened another jar of jam instead.

Ladybird Activity

Should these be "ird", "urd" or "eard" ladybirds ? The absurd ladybird was so dotty about spots that he put a dot in some of these words.

Can you spot what the letters should be instead of the dots ?
