On a cold, cold Winter's Christmas day,
Santa always had a bowl of porridge when he got in on his sleigh....
Usually, it was warming and hot....
He didn't much care how much sugar it had got...
Every year, Santa scoffed the lot...
Sometimes with a creamy, steamy sherry shot !
But this year, Mrs Christmas had a very bad cold...
The fairy had flown away, the gnome was busy so i am told !
Santa's belly rumbled...."I'm so hungry and very cold !", he grumbled !
What to do for Christmas dinner....Santa really didn't want to get any thinner !
The local chef heard about Santa's plight....and had a word with the Christmas fairy that night....
"Send out Santa an invitation, he said...
A free voucher for a meal instead !"
An hour later by gnome - courier on the mat
An envelope arrived - and almost landed on the cat !
The letter in the post said "Come for a roast ! Perhaps gammon, or beef - whatever you like the most !"
So off Santa sped to the restaurant Surbur....
For a five course meal and lots more...
There he met with all his friends...
Enjoying the festivities and their Christmas spends....
Mr Mark Davies greeted him...saying,
"My word Santa you're getting slim !"
"Santa come in.....sit by the fire and have a gin !"
From the kitchen, there was a delicious smell...
Of turkey cooking (and mince pies as well !)
There was a choir singing a carol hymm...
A band with a drummer called Sonny Jim !
Hot soup - basil and tomato....
Carrots, peas and roast potato...
A pot of coffee....some sticky toffee....
Santa devoured them all then got off -y !!!
Santa and Mrs Christmas cheered a champagne toast....
To Mr Mark Davies : the Surbur's perfect Christmas host !
