One Summer, Pierre the frog head off down South...
Across Exmoor he travelled and soon reached Lynmouth....
He leapfrogged along, singing his hopalong song,
Very soon he was tired...his legs weren't all that strong !
Pierre sat down by the side of the road...Before long, crawled along, a rather ugly toad....
"My dream has always been to arrive by steam !", he said...tucking into strawberries and cream in the flowerbed.
Just then, in the distance, they could hear the noise of chugging - it was the Lynmouth steam train and the carriages it was tugging !
Rattling on the track, along on its way,
964 feet high above Woody Bay...
The highest station in the nation...the Lynmouth railway is a marvellous creation !
Clouds of smoke made Pierre the frog choke...as the steam subsided, he could see lots of folk !
Pierre the frog hopped on 'Lyn',
And sped off, his head in quite a spin...
As OFF they scoot, Lyn gave a TOOT !
Pierre the frog wasn't entirely sure of the route !
From up there, the view of Exmoor was simply great !
One things for sure, now he wouldn't be late !
What he really longed to see as he headed East,
Was the Beast of Exmoor....but he didn't want to be his feast for tea !
The narrow guage track stopped off at the Old House pub,
Before heading back, Pierre ate a tasty grub !
Back in time, tired after his climb...
He slept and snored in the swampy slime !
