One day, as Octavia was swimming in the bay,
Singing her favourite song in her own innimitable way....
She heard someone singing along with the tune,
She saw it was a mermaid hiding in a sand dune...
The mermaid's singing couldn't get any worse,
She was so desperately bad, the crab got crabbier, of course !
The clams also, couldn't make out a word,
Even the lobster thought the cackling, absurd !
To the musical accompaniment,
People came and people went...
Listening to Octavia and the Mermaid busking, an hour they spent !
Only the Seagull could hit a high note like that,
It sounded remarkably like she'd trodden on the cat !
As Octavia screeched, the whale got beached....
Lower, then higher, the high notes she reached !
Still, it didn't matter much at all,
Along on the quayside, they all had a ball!
