Harry the Hippo's New Summer Hat

Life by the waterhole away from the trees,

Can be a little sweltering at 102 degrees!

Harry the hippo basked in the Sun,

Wearing his sunglasses, in the water he spun...

It wasn't long before he was sweaty and hot.....

His forehead was getting red a lot !

What you need is a new hat, said the vulture from the side of the waterhole where he was sat....

So Harry the Hippo tried on a baseball cap,

It fell off his head in a sudden mishap !

The bobble hat that he got as a Christmas gift,

Was really only useful in a Winter snowdrift....

His Easter bonnet looked ridiculous

The flowers and the eggs caused quite a fuss !

Hhhhmmmm, the hippo thought long and hard,

Then made a sombrero out of card !

He painted the sombrero yellow and red,

It was the best he'd ever seen, the elephant said !

Sat in the mud upon the beach...

Harry the hippo ate a huge, rosy peach

He wiggled his toes,

(It was gewy I suppose)

And rolled around stretching (with some on his nose !)....

The hippopotamus put on suntan cream,

Munched his way through a strawberry ice - cream....

This was really his Summer's dream....

Basking in the sunshine at the side of the stream !
