Every year, the job of Gerome the gnome,

Was to dig up a fir tree for their grotto home...

He got up early....half past six,

Out in the garden, he chopped up sticks...

Mrs Christmas wanted firewood for the fire...

So off he head to Delamere Forest in deepest Cheshire...

He cursed as his alarm buzzed...bring !

bring ! bringing....

In the kitchen, Mrs Christmas was carol-singing !

He took a spade and got quickly to work....

Sweat it out...he didn't shirk....

A shovelful of dirt fell on the cat...

A sprinkle of sand fell on the mat !!!

Although only 2 feet small,

He'd never done anything so athletic, he seemed to recall...

Well, Christmas made everyone energetic, I seem to recall !

The hole in the mud got much deeper...

At thruppence a spade he couldn't find cheaper !

Inch by inch...hour after hour...

The energetic gnome had a magical power !

His muscles bulged - he was feeling quite strong ...

To stop getting bored...he sang the baubles song...

"On Santa's Christmas tree...

One little bauble is lonely on its own...

Two little baubles are often falling down...

Three little baubles wobble on a twig...

Four little baubles in the light look big...

Five little baubles glitter in the light...

Six little baubles shine all through the night...

Seven little baubles looking upto Heaven...

Eight little baubles - one more than number seven...

Nine little baubles look a little odd....until

Ten little baubles make none of them on their tod !"

Baubles Counting Game

Use the baubles of the Christmas tree to identify colours and count numbers....

Example - how many red baubles are there ?
